This mechanical lifting operations podcast, part of Step Change in Safety’s 2021 Q2 safety theme, Safe Lifting Operations and Preventing Falling Objects, has been provided by Kenny Lawtie, Head of Lifting / Lifting Technical Authority and Lead Construction Engineer at Wood PLC.

In the podcast he talks listeners through the key aspects of safe mechanical lifting, routine non-crane lifts, lifting competence and closely following safe processes and procedures. He also highlights the importance of specific risk assessments and that their communication and understanding is paramount, and ensuring that controls are in place prior to beginning operations. Kenny has the safety of all of his offshore personnel as his top priority.
