The aim of the Lifting & Mechanical Handling Workgroup is to reduce the number of incidents that occur during lifting and mechanical handling operations and ensure these operations are carried out in a safe and consistent manner.

The Step Change in Safety Lifting & Mechanical Handling Workgroup uses the following approaches to achieve its objectives.

  • Provide guidance that demonstrates best practice and creates a safer workplace when lifting and mechanical handling operations are being carried out
  • Engagement with industry through live events to share knowledge and collaborate
  • Development of toolkits, information sheets and other learning materials
