Evolving from the Major Accident Hazard Understanding Workgroup, our Operational Excellence Workgroup helps identify and reduce risk, strengthen safe practices, and support continuous improvement, so every job is done right, first time, every time.

Aim: To embed a proactive safety culture that drives operational excellence by systematically identifying, mitigating, and reducing risks, ensuring every task is executed efficiently, reliably, and without harm to people, assets, or the environment.

How do they achieve this?: The workgroup will achieve this using the principles and philosophy of operational excellence to identify areas where continuous improvement can deliver improved safety performance through:

• Promoting operational discipline, sharing learnings, and driving continuous improvement as foundations of safe operations. 
• Supporting industry in moving from compliance-led safety to excellence in everyday operations.
